Amitriptyline	Amitriptyline is one of the older antidepressants and is used for the treatment of severe depression that does not respond to other medications.
Amoxepine	Amoxapine is an older antidepressant. It has been superseded by newer medications that are more effective and associated with lesser side effects.
Bupropion	Bupropion is an antidepressant that is also useful in smoking cessation and the treatment of obesity.
Citalopram	Citalopram is an antidepressant that is also used in the treatment of psychological conditions such as obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social phobias, eating disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, and compulsive buying and stealing.
Desvenlafaxine	Desvenlafaxine is an antidepressant medication. Its longer-acting version allows the tablet to be administered once a day, making it convenient for the patient.
Doxepin	Doxepin is an anti-depressant medication that has been superseded by the newer antidepressants. It is also used to treat psychological disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorders, insomnia and severe itching associated with chronic skin conditions, for which a cream is also available.
Dothiepin / Dosulpine	Dothiepin, also called dosulpine, is an anti-antidepressant medication that has been superseded by the newer antidepressants. It may be used to treat psychological disorders like obsessive-compulsive disorders.
Duloxetine	Duloxetine is an antidepressant that is also used to treat peripheral neuritis, anxiety disorders and stress urinary incontinence. It can affect the liver and therefore should be avoided in people with severe liver disease.
Escitalopram	Escitalopram is a drug that belongs to a group referred to as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is used to treat clinical depression and anxiety disorders among other psychological conditions.
Fluoxetine	Fluoxetine is a drug that belongs to a group referred to as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is used to treat clinical depression and anxiety disorders among other psychological conditions.
Fluvoxamine	Fluvoxamine is a drug that belongs to a group referred to as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is used to treat clinical depression and anxiety disorders among other psychological conditions.
Imipramine	Imipramine is an older antidepressant that is usually reserved to treat severe depression due to its side effects.
Isocarboxazid	Isocarboxazid is an older antidepressant that has been superseded by the newer medications.
Levomilnacipran	Levomilnacipran is an antidepressant that belongs to the group of serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors. It should not be used by patients with severe kidney disease.
Milnacipran	Milnacipran is an antidepressant that is used to treat fibromyalgia, a condition which results in muscle pain at specific points, fatigue and sleep disturbances.
Mirtazapine	Mirtazapine is an antidepressant that is sedative. It is therefore useful in patients with depression who suffer from insomnia as well.
Nefazodone	Nefazodone is an atypical antidepressant. It is not a preferred drug for the treatment of depression due to its damaging effect on the liver.
Nortriptyline	Nortriptyline is an older antidepressant that has been superseded by the safer and newer antidepressants. However, it is still useful to treat severe depression that does not respond to the newer antidepressants.
Phenelzine	Phenelzine is a rarely used antidepressant that is used only in exceptional circumstances due to its side effects and the availability of safer antidepressants.
Paroxetine	Paroxetine is a commonly used medication for the treatment of depression. It belongs to a group of medications called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
Reboxetine	Reboxetine is an antidepressant that belongs to a group called selective noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors.
Sertraline	Sertraline is a drug that belongs to the group called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is used to treat clinical depression, anxiety disorders such as social anxiety disorder and panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
Trazodone	Trazodone is an antidepressant that can also treat associated insomnia due to its sedative effect. It can affect the heart and blood pressure, and result in painful, persistent erection in male patients.
Venlafaxine	Venlafaxine is one of the frequently used antidepressants. It belongs to a group called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is also used to treat other conditions such as generalized anxiety disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder.
Vilazodone	Vilazodone is a new antidepressant that acts by increasing the level of serotonin in the nerve junctions in the brain.
Vortioxetine	Vortioxetine is a new antidepressant that acts by increasing the level of serotonin in the nerve junctions in the brain.
